About

Hello! I thought you might like to know a little about me. I am married and have two daughters, ages 24 and 26, both of whom are engaged currently to get married. So, my new favorite thing to say is that I have two daughters and I am pregnant with two son-in-laws! A December 2009 wedding is planned for one; the second wedding date has not been set as yet, but is expected to occur in 2010.

My husband and I were hoping to retire in 2009, but that has been pushed back a year or so to let the economy figure out what it wants to do (hopefully – IMPROVE!!).  My husband recently received his Ph.D. in AstroPhysics and plans to teach at a university. We have purchased about 17 acres of land near the university of his choice and we plan to plant blueberries there and operate a “pick your own” blueberry farm.

In addition, I would like to own and operate a tea room. Recently, I received a two year degree in Hospitality Management with an emphasis on the culinary arts.  Since I have no experience in running a restaurant whatsoever, I thought that I had better get the schooling before I make any real plans for a tea room! I graduated with honors from the program and learned so much!!  My favorite classes always involved cooking in the huge commercial kitchen and I received training from a chef with credentials from the Culinary Insititute of America (CIA) and from a Certified Austrian Master Chef.

Since retirement plans are on hold for the moment, schooling is done, and the girls out of the house and on their own, I found myself with some spare time!! What a concept! So, I came up with some options to occupy myself. I love to cook, sew, garden, and read. I have a huge supply of fabric, some dating back to the 70s that will either have to be moved eventually, or made into projects. When all was said and done, I figured out it would be a lot cheaper to take up sewing (again) rather than put a commerical kitchen in the house,  therefore, sewing won out!! I set up a shop on Etsy and began selling tea cozies, aprons and related items. It has been a lot of fun and I have made some great contacts in just the short time that I have been working on Etsy.

So, that is a little about me!! I suppose more will be revealed as time goes along as I grasp the concept of blogging and use it to full measure.

Cheers!
